Rockingham County to Render Assistance to Western Communities Impacted by Hurricane Helene

Rockingham County is collecting non-perishable food, water, blankets, baby supplies and other essentials for the family of counties that were severely impacted by Hurricane Helene.
 

Wentworth, NC: Rockingham County is collecting non-perishable food, water, blankets, baby supplies and other essentials for the family of counties that were severely impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Those interested in donating much needed supplies are encouraged to bring them directly to the Rockingham County Maintenance Warehouse located at 338 Cherokee Camp Road, Wentworth, North Carolina, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, starting Oct. 1 and running through Oct. 10. Staff will be available to assist and direct. Rockingham County Libraries will also be taking donated supplies at the following times:

Eden, Madison/Mayodan, and Reidsville Libraries, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Stoneville - Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The collection and delivery of these critical supplies are being made through the efforts of the Rockingham County Board of Commissioners, County Management and all staff. Other drop-off points are the town and city halls of Eden, Madison, Mayodan, Reidsville, Stoneville and Wentworth during normal business hours.

Please only bring the following items:

Non-Perishable food
Bottled water, (sealed)
Blankets
Flashlights and batteries
Feminine hygiene products
Hand sanitizer
Sprots Drinks
Unopened toiletry items
Baby supplies, (Non-Perishable), included powdered baby formula
Insect spray
Manual can openers
Work gloves
New clothing
Trash bags


Note: Used clothing, hazardous materials, liquid cleaning supplies, fuel and other flammable items will NOT be accepted.

Anyone wishing to donate pet items should drop them off at the Rockingham County Animal Shelter, located at 250 Cherokee Camp Road, Reidsville, N.C. 27320.

The following pet items are needed most:

Dog and cat food, dried or canned. Must be sealed and unopened.
Bottled water
Cat litter and crates of all sizes
Towels or blankets.
Cleaning supplies, including paper towels.


Rockingham County has deployed a Swift Water Team, a Telecommunications Response Task Force, a Light Tower and Generator. Rodney Cates, Emergency Services Director for Rockingham County, has also been deployed to McDowell County to serve as a supply manager.
