RCDHHS has partnered with Rockingham County Healthcare Collaborative and Reidsville Area Foundation to assemble four workgroups that review and prioritize the recommendations made in the report as the basis for creating a county behavioral health strategic plan.
Wentworth, NC: Rockingham County Department of Health and Human Services (RCDHHS) in partnership with eight local health agencies and Crescendo Consulting Group completed a Behavioral Health Assessment and Gaps Analysis for the County in fall 2023. The report included a secondary data analysis, as well as primary data collection obtained through a community survey, stakeholder interviews, and community focus groups. The report identifies eight priority areas for improving mental health and well-being in Rockingham, including:

Advocacy and Policy Change,
2)
Awareness and Stigma Reduction,
3)
Workforce Shortage, Retention and Recruitment,
4)
Continuum of Care and Service Gaps for Youth,
5)
Continuum of Care and Service Gaps for Adults and Older Adults,
6)
Services for People in the Criminal Justice System,
7)
Prevention, Early Intervention & Harm Reduction; and,
8)
Social Determinants of Health.
As its next step, RCDHHS has partnered with Rockingham County Healthcare Collaborative and Reidsville Area Foundation to assemble four workgroups that review and prioritize the recommendations made in the report as the basis for creating a county behavioral health strategic plan. The groups will meet monthly August - February, with the full presentation of recommendations to the Commissioners planned for March, 2025.
