Rockingham County Government Announces New Finance Director

Rockingham County Government is excited to announce the appointment of our new Finance Director, Mandy McGhee. McGhee, who brings with her 10 years of local government experience, will officially step into her role on August 19, 2024.

Mandy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Averett University. She has held positions such as Executive Project Coordinator, Fiscal and Operations Analyst at New College Institute, and Residency Business Administrator with the Virginia Department of Transportation. Mandy’s most recent positions introduced her to leadership roles in local government including Assistant Director of Finance and Director of Finance, both at the City of Martinsville, where she provided budget and financial advice to the City Manager and City Council, led the development of the City’s annual operating and capital budget, collaborated with department heads and their teams, and managed Accounting, Risk Management, and Purchasing Divisions.

The Rockingham County Finance Office is responsible for establishing and maintaining the financial activity of the County in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and state law. The duties of the office are to establish and maintain accurate accounting records, disburse monies, make financial reports, manage the receipt and deposit of monies, manage the county’s debt service obligation, and supervise. Additionally, the department prepares the annual budget for the County.
