Rockingham County Government offers
many challenging and fulfilling career opportunities. Approximately 900
full-time and part-time employees work in a variety of positions,
including public safety, information technology, human services, growth
and environmental management, economic development, public works, and
administration. In addition to competitive salaries and opportunities

Rockingham County only accepts
applications for positions that are currently advertised. Employment
applications can be completed on line.

included in the job announcement, applications must be received by 5:00
p.m. on that date. If a position is posted as "continuous,"
applications should be submitted as soon as possible. They may close
without notice. Applications can be
completed online at any computer with Internet access. Computers are
available at the Employment Security Commission, 302 N. Highway Street,
Madison, NC, 27025, or any Rockingham County Public Library branch.
To be considered for Rockingham County
employment, you must answer all questions and complete all sections of
the application form. Check for accuracy. You
must give complete information on your education and work history (“See
Resume” is not acceptable). List separately each job held and your
duties for each position when you worked for one employer and held more
than one position. The County employs only United States citizens or
aliens who can provide proof of identity and work authorization within
three (3) working days of employment. Males subject to military
selective service registration must certify compliance to be eligible
for County employment (G.S. 143B-421.1).
Drug Testing Policy: All applicants
tentatively selected for any position will be required to submit to
urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
