Rockingham County Detention Center
The primary purpose of the Detention Facility (commonly referred to as
the "County Jail") is to provide a secure confinement facility for the
housing of inmates who are in “pending trial” status and those inmates
serving short term misdemeanor sentences. The Detention Center provides a
humane, safe, and healthy environment for staff and inmates. Other
duties include transporting inmates to and from prison units, and for
court appearances, maintaining proper computerized records on inmates,
security of inmates’ personal property and inmate medical needs. The
detention services division is located at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office in the
Law Enforcement Center, is located at 130 Justice Center Drive Reidsville, NC 27320. (off NC Hwy. 65).
Inmate Medication Policy - Rockingham County Detention Facility:
APPROVED SOURCES OF MEDICATION FOR INMATES:
Facility Pharmacy: The primary source for all medications routinely prescribed and dispensed within the facility.
Contracted Pharmacy: A pre-approved external pharmacy may provide specific medications not readily available at the facility pharmacy.
Hospital Pharmacy: Medications may be dispensed by a hospital pharmacy during authorized medical visits outside the facility.
PROHIBITED SOURCES AND PRACTICES:
Medications of any kind brought to the Rockingham County Detention Center by the public (friend, family member, or acquaintance) for an inmate will not be accepted. This includes "over-the-counter" medications.
The Rockingham County Detention Facility medical staff will dispense necessary medications for inmates only from the approved sources listed above. No exceptions will be allowed.

This detention facility was built in 2010 and can hold up to 232
inmates. The detention services division employs a staff of over 50
fulltime and part-time officers operating 24 hours a day. The facility
operates with two Lieutenants, Staff Sergeants, Sergeants, and staff.
