The Rockingham County Healthy Carolinians is a Certified Partnership of the Governor's Task Force. The mission of the Partnership is to advocate, guide, and assist Rockingham County in planning and implementing health care strategies to promote healthy lifestyles, improve health status and to increase the years of quality living for all residents in the county.
Rockingham County Healthy Carolinians currently addresses three top priority areas, identified after the 2020 Rockingham County Community Health Assessment (CHA).
Those areas are:
- Social Determinants of Health: Emphasis on Education
- Physical Activity and Nutrition: Emphasis on Diabetes
- Mental Health/Substance Abuse: Emphasis on Opioids
The partnership addresses these priority areas through the hard work and dedication of three work groups.

Social Determinants-Education
Goal is to provide resources and interventions to improve education to all children - birth through high school - in Rockingham County.

Be Healthy
Goal is to provide opportunities for physical activity and healthy eating by creating policy and environmental changes.

Opioid Task Force (OTF)
To reduce substance misuse, overdose, and deaths in Rockingham County through community education, prevention, and collaboration.
Who can participate in the Rockingham County Healthy Carolinians Partnership:
Everyone! Community leaders, private citizens, hospitals, health departments, schools, businesses, religious organizations, civic organizations and other services agencies Anyone with a passion and advocacy for wellness and improving the health of the citizens of our county is welcomed to join Healthy Carolinians.
