The Register of Deeds office records and maintains death
records for those persons who actually died in Rockingham County,
regardless of county of residence, from 1913 to the present. Death
records are available for public access between the hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). The fee for a plain paper copy is $0.25 and $10.00 for a certified copy. Copies can be obtained one the following ways:

Copies can be obtained in our office located on the first floor of the Rockingham County Justice Center at 170 NC 65, Suite 150; Reidsville, NC.
Certified copies require valid photo identification and can only be issued to immediate family members or authorized agents. More information on acceptable forms of identification and a list of individuals authorized to obtain certified copies can be found on online.

Out of County Birth Certificates
The Rockingham County Register of Deeds serves as an authorized agent for the State Registrar and can issue certified copies of death certificates for individuals who died anywhere in the State of North Carolina from August, 2020 to present day. These requests are limited to certified copies only and are processed through NCOVR (Vital Records Automated System). Requests for out-of-county births can only be made in person from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday (excluding holidays). The fee is $24.00 for one certified copy and $15.00 for each additional certified copy.
