Sheriff's Uniformed Patrol Division

The most recognized section of any law enforcement agency is the uniformed patrol division. The Sheriff’s Office is proud to serve the citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Sheriff’s Office is unique in its jurisdictional structure. Jurisdiction is held anywhere within the 566 square miles of the county. However, responsibility is shared with the Cities of Eden, Madison, Mayodan, Reidsville and Stoneville. If you live within the city limits, then you will most likely receive law enforcement services from those agencies.

The uniformed patrol division is composed of four squads working 12-hour shifts. Their primary function includes answering all calls for service, enforcement of all criminal laws, preliminary criminal investigations and the service of criminal and civil process. The staff duty section of the office is assigned to the uniformed patrol. There, video surveillance of the Law Enforcement Center is a part of the functions that also include fingerprinting, non emergency calls for information, assistance to walk in traffic, computer assistance for patrol, and answering the 24 hour Crimestoppers tipline.

Captain Jason Hutchins supervises field operations, animal control, staff duty, and the reserve deputy program. He can be reached at (336) 634-3232.
