Must be 35 years of age, 14-year resident within US. Must be born a US Citizen.
- US Senate
Must be 30 years of age, 9-year US Citizen.
- US House
Must be 25 years of age, 7-year US Citizen. (May run outside their district Art. 6, Sec. 6)
- NC Senate
Must be 25 years of age and 2-year resident of State and 1-year resident of District preceding election.
- NC House
Must be 21 years of age and 1-year resident of State preceding election.
- Governor
Must be 30 years of age, 5-year US Citizen, 2-year State resident preceding election.
- Lt. Governor
Must be 30 years of age, 5-year US Citizen, 2-year State resident preceding election.
- All Judges and District Attorney
Must be an attorney and at least 21 years of age.
- County Commissioner
Must be 21 years of age by the time they take office and a Rockingham County registered voter.
- Municipal Offices
Must be 21 years of age by the time they take office and must live in the municipality for which they are running.
- School Board
Must be 21 years of age by the time they take office and must live in the school district for which they are running.
- Soil and Water District Supervisor
Must be 21 years of age by the time they take office and a Rockingham County registered voter.
Nothing in the Constitution allows anyone between the ages of 18 and 21 to hold office.
