Annual Budget
The budget process is one of the most important accomplishments of the governing body and staff annually. Programs are planned and budgeted under recommendation of Staff, fiduciary oversight of the Finance department and County Manager, and approved by the Board of Commissioners each fiscal year.
The county adopts a balanced budget which governs the fiscal year July 1 through June 30, per North Carolina General Statute. The annual budget estimates the total value of resources required to perform all county operations. The budget also sets various tax and fee rates for the upcoming year.
